Jenelle “JJ” Nguefang is a gymnast who knows how to make an impression. From her explosive power on floor and vault to the difficulty she is now bringing on beam and bars, Nguefang has plenty of exciting gymnastics to show off this upcoming season. After earning a spot at Level 10 Nationals last season, she wasted no time getting back into the gym, refining her current skills while also working on major upgrades that could take her gymnastics to another level.

When it comes to power, Nguefang has plenty of it, and nowhere is that more evident than on floor. Her double tuck and double pike showcase impressive amplitude, but what really stands out is her ability to control that power. She does a great job of spotting her landings and keeping her chest up, allowing her to execute her passes with control and limit deductions. Her explosiveness doesn't stop with her tumbling, either. Nguefang brings that same energy into her dance elements, showing off dynamic leaps with fully extended split positions. Between her high flying tumbling and captivating performance, floor is an event where Nguefang has all the tools to make a statement.

That explosive power translates just as well to vault, where Nguefang is bringing both explosiveness and variety. She's been training a yurchenko full that showcases impressive amplitude and distance off the table. But she isn't stopping there. Nguefang has also been putting in work on a half on entry, giving her another vault to explore as she continues increasing her difficulty. With her natural power and ability to generate impressive height and distance, vault is another event where Nguefang has plenty of potential to stand out.

On beam, Nguefang isn't afraid to attack her skills. She brings an aggressive yet controlled approach to the event, particularly in her floaty back handspring layout series and side aerial. Her confidence is just as evident in her dance elements, where she shows off a unique switch leap, switch side combination hitting 180 on both skills. While she's been working on upgrades throughout the offseason, Nguefang has placed just as much emphasis on cleaning up her old skills on this event. That combination of difficulty, confidence, and attention to detail should make her beam routine an exciting one to watch this upcoming season.

And if her offseason training is any indication, this season could be a breakout year on bars for Nguefang. She has been working on a huge Tkatchev release that has the potential to become a showstopper in her routine. The skill requires an explosive tap, precise timing to generate the height needed to release, clear the bar, and successfully catch. Nguefang has shown just that in her recent training videos. Bringing the Tkatchev into competition would be an exciting addition to her routine, adding another level of difficulty and increasing her scoring potential.

What makes Nguefang such an exciting gymnast to watch isn't just the power and difficulty she already brings, but the potential she's continuing to build. From her explosive tumbling on floor to the Tkatchev she's been working on bars, Nguefang is finding new ways to challenge herself while continuing to perfect her execution and the little details across all four events.

Now with an offseason full of hard work and exciting upgrades under her belt, she'll be looking to build on that success and make an even bigger statement this upcoming season.
