Rising Talent: Region 6 Level 9 Watchlist

Region 6 continues to showcase a strong tradition of developing talented gymnasts, and this Level 9 class is no exception. These athletes are entering a critical stage of their gymnastics careers, where skill progression, competitive confidence, and consistency begin to shape the path ahead.   This group represents the depth and diversity of talent throughout the region, with gymnasts showcasing impressive difficulty, strong fundamentals, and the drive to continue improving. Whether it's explosive power, refined artistry, or the ability to perform under pressure, these athletes are demonstrating the qualities that make future standouts. As they continue to grow, upgrade their routines, and take on new challenges, these Region 5 gymnasts are ones to keep on the radar.    Janice Ryou is a polished all-around gymnast whose combination of clean execution, elegant presentation, and developing difficulty makes her a rising recruit to watch. She competes a pike Tsukahara on vault and is training a Yurchenko layout, giving her multiple vault options as she progresses. On bars, Ryou showcases strong composition with a giant 1/2 to Pak salto, 1/2 pirouette, and double tuck dismount, while training additional upgrades including a toe handstand, full pirouette, and Maloney. Beam highlights her graceful lines and flexibility with a back handspring-layout stepout series, impressive 180-degree leap positions, and a roundoff to tucked full-twisting dismount. Her floor routine combines precise execution and expressive choreography, featuring a front full to front tuck connection and a full twist, with exciting upgrades in the works such as a double pike, double tuck, Rudi, and front full to front pike. With strong fundamentals and high-level skills progressing across every event, Ryou is an athlete whose ceiling continues to rise.     Entering her sophomore year, Marcela Gunia is a rising recruit with the power, execution, and upward trajectory to keep on college coaches' radar. She competes a powerful Yurchenko layout on vault and demonstrates clean technique on bars with a giant 1/2 to bail combination and a double tuck dismount. Beam showcases her polished presentation and clean lines, highlighted by a back handspring-back handspring series, back tuck, and roundoff to full-twisting dismount. On floor, Gunia brings both difficulty and performance quality with a 1.5 to front pike, front layout to front pike, and an additional 1.5 twist, complemented by engaging choreography. Even more exciting are the upgrades she's developing, including a back handspring-layout stepout on beam, blind change and full pirouette on bars, and both a double pike and double tuck on floor. As those skills make their way into competition, Gunia has the potential to take another significant step forward in the coming seasons.     Entering her sophomore year, Class of 2029 gymnast Anna Csicseri is a rising recruit with strong fundamentals and the potential to continue elevating her all-around difficulty. She competes a clean Yurchenko layout on vault and shows solid bar work with a clear hip to handstand connected to a Pak salto. On beam, Csicseri combines confidence with quality dance elements, highlighted by a back handspring-back handspring series, back tuck to split jump connection, switch leap to tucked 3/4 turn, and a roundoff to full-twisting dismount. Her floor routine features a front through to 1.5 twist, switch side to Popa combination, and an additional 1.5 twist, while she's training upgrades including a front layout to front layout connection and a double tuck. Beam upgrades, such as a front toss to back tuck series, further demonstrate her commitment to increasing difficulty. As she continues to build on an already well-rounded skill set, Csicseri is an athlete to watch in the Class of 2029.     Alexis Chung is an emerging all-around talent with polished execution and steadily increasing difficulty across all four events. She competes a clean Yurchenko layout on vault and is training a Yurchenko tuck full, adding another layer of scoring potential. On bars, Chung demonstrates strong fundamentals with precise handstands, a giant 1/2 to bail combination, and a double tuck dismount, while continuing to refine a bail to handstand. Beam is a standout event, highlighted by a back handspring-layout stepout series, an aerial, dynamic 180-degree leap positions, and a back handspring to tucked full-twisting dismount. Floor showcases both her tumbling and consistency with front layout to front pike, front full to front pike, and a full twist, and she's already training upgrades including a Rudi, front full to layout, and double tuck. With clean technique and exciting progression across every event, Chung is a rising recruit to keep on the radar as her difficulty continues to grow.     Class of 2029 gymnast Alivia Hess is a rising recruit with a strong foundation and impressive difficulty across all four events. She competes a clean Yurchenko layout on vault, while bars features a Pak salto, 1/2 pirouette, and a well-executed double tuck dismount that she sticks with confidence. On beam, Hess showcases consistency with a back handspring-layout stepout series and back handspring to full-twisting dismount, and she's developing even more difficulty through front toss connections, a front tuck, back tuck connection, and Gainer dismount. Floor highlights her power and extension with a 1.5 twist and dynamic leap series, while training upgrades including a double tuck, double full, and 1.5 to front tuck point to an exciting trajectory. With advanced skills already in place and more on the way, Hess is a talented young athlete to watch as she progresses through the recruiting pipeline.     Pemberley Bordeau is an up-and-coming Level 9 with a well-balanced skill set and exciting potential as she continues to increase her difficulty. She competes a Yurchenko pike on vault and is training a Yurchenko layout, while her bars routine is backed by a strong collection of upgrades, including a Gienger, full pirouette, and bail to handstand. On beam, Bordeau combines confidence with developing difficulty, training a back handspring-layout stepout series and Gainer full dismount. Floor showcases her twisting ability with a 1.5 twist and full twist in competition, and she's already working toward adding a double tuck and front full. With advanced skills progressing across all four events, Bordeau is a rising recruit to keep an eye on in the coming seasons.    Region 6 continues to produce an impressive pipeline of young talent, and this group of Level 9 athletes is just beginning to scratch the surface of its potential. With advanced skills already in competition and even more difficult upgrades on the horizon, these gymnasts are poised to make an impact as they progress through the junior ranks and into the recruiting conversation.
