Entering her sophomore year, Marcela Gunia is a rising recruit with the power, execution, and upward trajectory to keep on college coaches’ radar. She competes a powerful Yurchenko layout on vault and demonstrates clean technique on bars with a giant 1/2 to bail combination and a double tuck dismount. Beam showcases her polished presentation and clean lines, highlighted by a back handspring-back handspring series, back tuck, and roundoff to full-twisting dismount. On floor, Gunia brings both difficulty and performance quality with a 1.5 to front pike, front layout to front pike, and an additional 1.5 twist, complemented by engaging choreography. Even more exciting are the upgrades she’s developing, including a back handspring-layout stepout on beam, blind change and full pirouette on bars, and both a double pike and double tuck on floor. As those skills make their way into competition, Gunia has the potential to take another significant step forward in the coming seasons.
