Region 7 Athlete of the Month: Addison Burns

Some recruits stand out because of raw difficulty, while others separate themselves through confidence, precision, and the ability to perform every routine with purpose. Entering her junior season, Addison Burns continues to establish herself as one of Region 7's rising all-around talents, pairing polished execution with an exciting wave of upgrades that could elevate her recruiting stock over the next two years.   Burns brings a composed, aggressive style to beam, attacking every skill with confidence while maintaining clean lines and strong rhythm throughout her routine. She currently competes a back handspring to layout stepout series, piked front toss, and roundoff to 1½-twisting dismount, displaying both consistency and competitive composure. With a back handspring-layout-layout series currently in training, she is steadily increasing the event's difficulty while building on an already solid foundation.   On floor, Burns combines expressive choreography with dynamic tumbling. Her routine features a front through to double tuck, front Rudi, front layout, and front full, all performed with clean technique and polished presentation. She is continuing to raise the ceiling of the event with a front layout to front Rudi connection in training, adding another high-value pass to an already impressive routine.   Vault is another event trending upward. Burns currently competes a clean Yurchenko layout, but her future plans are particularly exciting. She is training both a Yurchenko ½-on tuck ½-off and a Yurchenko ½-on pike ½-off, demonstrating her willingness to pursue unique vaults that could provide valuable lineup differentiation at the collegiate level.   On bars, Burns continues to develop a technically sound routine featuring a toe handstand to bail to handstand and a toe-on to pike ½ dismount. While the event continues to evolve, her attention to fundamentals provides a strong platform for future growth.   With two seasons of club gymnastics still ahead, Burns has positioned herself as a recruit with significant upside. Her confident performance style, polished execution, and ambitious upgrades across multiple events make her an athlete college coaches should continue to monitor closely as the Class of 2028 recruiting cycle unfolds.
