Brains and Balance: Region 7 and 8's Class of 2029

Success in gymnastics takes more than strength, skill, and determination. For these athletes, excellence extends beyond the competition floor and into the classroom. The Class of 2029 is filled with gymnasts who are proving they can balance the demands of high-level training with a strong commitment to academics. We're highlighting the Brains & Balance of Regions 7 and 8. These are athletes who are excelling both in the gym and in the classroom.    Makenna Lynch is already making a name for herself as a standout all-arounder, posting a season-high 38.15 at State last season, along with qualifying to Nationals. Now an incoming sophomore, Lynch has shown that her success extends beyond the gym, carrying an impressive 5.127 GPA alongside her accomplishments in gymnastics. With both academic excellence and all-around ability, Lynch is a prime example of the balance it takes to excel in the classroom and on the competition floor.     Grace Stolle has established herself as a standout on bars, consistently posting scores of 9.55 on the event while showcasing the precision and consistency that make her a reliable competitor. As she enters her sophomore year, Stolle is proving that her dedication extends beyond the gym as well, maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. Her ability to excel both academically and athletically makes her a true example of the brains and balance it takes to succeed.     Cassidy Bandholz has established herself as a consistent all-around competitor, posting a season-high score of 35.5 last season. Her dedication extends beyond the gym, where she maintains a 4.0 GPA and an impressive 4.73 weighted GPA. With her consistency in competition and commitment in the classroom, Bandholz embodies the balance it takes to excel in both academics and athletics.     Luciana Panaccione brings a steady presence to the all-around, but it's on vault where she truly makes her mark. Last season, she never dipped below a 9.0 on the event, showcasing the consistency and reliability that make her a standout competitor. That same dedication carries into the classroom, where Panaccione maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA. Whether she's sticking a vault or tackling her studies, Panaccione continues to show what it means to excel with both brains and balance.     Keira Abele brings consistency and strength to the all-around, posting a season-high score of 36.775 last season. But it's on vault where she truly stands out. Her front handspring-front pike never dipped below a 9.4 this season, showcasing the reliability and control that make her a standout on the event. Abele carries that same commitment into the classroom, where she maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA. With her ability to deliver in competition and excel academically, she's a gymnast who continues to demonstrate the balance of excellence both in and out of the gym.     Ella Trotter brings a strong combination of academic achievement and competitive consistency to the table. She posted a season-high all-around score of 36.925 last season, with bars serving as one of her most reliable events. Trotter never scored below a 9.075 on bars throughout the season, demonstrating the kind of consistency that can make a difference in a lineup. Her accomplishments in the classroom are equally impressive, where she maintains a 4.7 GPA and a 5.0 weighted GPA. Trotter's ability to balance a demanding academic workload with strong performances in the gym makes her a standout in both arenas.     Emilee Elmore brings power to every corner of the competition floor, making her a standout on the events where amplitude and explosive tumbling can make all the difference. She scored a 9.1 or higher on vault throughout the season and never dipped below a 9.225 on floor, showcasing the consistency behind her powerful gymnastics. Elmore's dedication extends beyond competition as well, where she maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA. Her ability to pair explosive athleticism with academic excellence makes her a strong example of what it means to excel in both arenas.     Brielle St. Vil's all-around consistency was on full display last season, when she posted an impressive season-high score of 38.45. With reliable performances across every event, St. Vil has shown that she can be counted on from start to finish. That same well-rounded approach carries into her academics, where she maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA. Whether she's balancing four events in competition or the demands of the classroom, St. Vil continues to demonstrate the value of preparation, focus, and follow-through.     Lyla Scott knows how to make an impression when the stakes are highest. Her Yurchenko ½ was a standout at Nationals last season, where she scored a 9.575 to place 15th on the event. Scott also posted a season-high all-around score of 37.00, showcasing her ability to contribute across all four events. Her accomplishments in the classroom are just as noteworthy, placing her in the top 5% of her class. With the ability to rise to the occasion in competition and excel academically, Scott is a fitting example of the brains and balance behind a successful gymnast.
