Skill Spotlight: Seven Vaulters Standing Out Beyond the Yurchenko

Here is a list of the top 6 athletes highlighting their unique vaults you don't want to miss. These athletes have variety in age and vault, but they all have one thing in common, it's not a Yurchenko. We all appreciate high-flying vaults and these girls achieve just that while also incorporating a unique forward entry into their skillsets.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Furthermore, I will start this Skill Spotlight series off on Vault due to this event being first in Olympic order. She competed a Front Handspring + Front Pike throughout the season and was rewarded on many occasions with consistent high scores. Olivia's Front Handspring + Front Pike vault earned 1st place at the 2026 Florida State Championship with a 9.8 as well. She has competed a Front Handspring + Front Pike vault this past season and is continuing to work on adding a half out. Abby's Front Handspring + Front Pike earned a 9.6 at the 2026 Michigan State Championship awarding her first place. Katelyn has a noteworthy ability to find her landings, which has helped her maintain consistent high scores throughout the year. While her vault starts like a Yurchenko, it incorporates an extremely difficult twist creating a forward entry and landing position. According to social media, she is working on upgrading it by adding a half out. She competed a unique, Kasamatsu tuck 1 1/2, commonly called a Kaz. This intricate vault exposes Frankie's ability to flip and twist simultaneously, while maintaining proper technique is truly impressive. While Yurchenko vaults are continuing to set the standard, I am always excited to see new vaults that are not commonly seen in competitions. Great form and strong landing positions remain the primary goal on vault regardless of the entry or exit shape, but I also appreciate the drive for originality and high start values from these gymnasts.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
